Statement from Parkland Minor Hockey Association Regarding Adverse Travel Policy

The Parkland Minor Hockey Association would like to remind all teams, players, and families of the importance of adhering to Manitoba’s road closure policies during adverse weather conditions. Safety is our top priority, and we urge everyone to make responsible decisions when traveling to practices, games, or tournaments.

Key Points to Remember:

    1.    No Travel on Closed Roads

      •   Driving on closed roads is illegal and poses serious safety risks to all travelers, as well as emergency responders.

      •   Violators may face fines, demerit points, and liability for any incidents that occur.

    2.    Plan Ahead and Stay Informed

      •   Always check road conditions through Manitoba 511 (https://www.manitoba511.ca/) before traveling.

      •   Monitor weather forecasts and anticipate potential delays or cancellations during severe weather.

    3.    Rescheduling Games and Events

      •   In the event of road closures, our association will work closely with teams to reschedule games or events as needed. The safety of our players and families will always come first.

    4.    Communicate with Your Team

      •   If you are unable to travel due to road closures or unsafe conditions, notify your coach or manager as soon as possible.

      •   Teams are encouraged to support one another in prioritizing safety over competition.

We appreciate your cooperation in ensuring the well-being of our hockey community. Let’s continue to set a positive example for our players by making safety a collective priority.

Sincerely,

Parkland Minor Hockey Association
